Today Spikey took Master Liam to Rietvlei Nature Reserve. At first the fog was so thick that all the birds were not allowed to take off. With his sharp 16 year old eyes The Dude managed to spot the resident buffalo herd, and took some eerily beautiful photos!
After a while Spikes stopped and told The Driver to get behind the wheel. He hasn't driver a manual car in some time but he still managed to - mostly - ace those pullaways that every new driver love to hate. After a pitstop at the Rietvlei coffee shop for condensed milk coffee and rusks, the sun had finally managed to burn away the fog. The Driver was anxious to get going - he was enjoying this driving thing. Spikey was enjoyed having an official driver! Just saying.
With the ability to actually see the reserve restored lots of eland, ostriches, zebras and red hartebeest were viewed. And The Driver drove all the way through the reserve to the entrance gate.
It was a good day.
