IPT Tournament final 11 October 2025

 Blue Bulls 55

Lions 34

The U18 Blue Bulls are the 2025 IPT Champions!!!

Some background:

As it happened, our dude got a nasty bump on the head on Thursday while playing against the Lions in the last of the playoff games. By then they had already done enough to end up in the final.

Sadly, the net result of this headbump was that the medics and Coach Kudu decided he has done enough for this tournament, playing his heart out to help his team reach the final. They played it safe and rested him. It was sad and heartbreaking. But it was also the correct decision - they have a duty to manage young players in order to extend their career times. You don't take chances with head injuries.

But as sad as he was, Master Liam also has the heart and mindset of a champion. By the time of the final he had volunteered to do more than being in the dugout, cheering on his teammates.

He assisted the place kicker by running on to the field to hand him the kicking tee (I insist that kicking thingy sounds better) every time he went for posts. This is how you take the heartache and turn it into lessons. This is how champions do it.

Final score with a stunning victory by the Blue Bulls.

Receiving medals from Mister Antonie Schutte, the BBYRA Chairman.

The smile that says - we bloody did it boys, we did it!!

Just a Bull thinking about what they have just achieved

A very proud Blue Bull

Smooching the winner's trophy is as inevitable as breathing - you simply must do it

Liam and Frosty (we love this guy!)

Liam and Nathan

Liam and Kiaan. Keep in mind this is a 1.98m guy. Kiaan just happens to be 3.5m tall and makes everybody look small! Well, 2.05m but he looks 3.5. 🤷‍♂️

That sweet, sweet celebration of the championship winners

We've got that winning feeling!
