For one last time in 2025 the Blue Bulls under 18 team got together - this time to officially receive the trophy they worked so hard for during the Interprovincial Tournament several weeks ago. In the final they beat the Lions team and became worthy double champs - 2024 and 2025.
Just One Thing Dad
The life and times of Liam Marais, youngest son of Glenda and Henk Marais born on 27 October 2008. Brother of Dylan Marais - Big Brother. The title of his blog was altered to Just One Thing Dad on 24 Feb 2015 because this is his favourite counter argument for everything. If he stalls for time, argues a point, counters an argument, or just want to argue because he loves it - that's how it starts. Just one thing dad.

Liam's 17th birthday.
From little Jack-Jack lookalike who could - and did - have afternoon naps under my work table to a 17 year old dude with the heart of a lion and the height of a giraffe. In the blink of an eye. Witty, confident, windgat, emphatic, focused, fit and always hungry. Even for food! I follow your life journey with the same sense of wonder and awe now as l have since day one.
Happy 17th birthday dude.
As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way.

Amanzimtoti Rugby Tour 2020 with Harlequins - kak shooters
Well, the face really says it all. We are not quite sure what was in that shooter, but we do know it tasted bad! We have all had the "priviledge" of having to down a kak shooter as part of some or other induction - this was his time.

Liam's First Flight! 21 October 2025
Truth be told this was actually his third flight.
But the first time he flew was when the family moved down to Sedgefield and Master Liam was maybe 8 months old. Several months later that experiment fizzled out and he flew back again with Mom while Dylan drove back with Dad and Spikes. So he remembers nothing about that flight. Or his Mama's tears as she bid Spikes and Eunice goodbye at the airport in Johannesburg.
This flight was a joyful occasion as he returned from the South Coast after the Harlequins rugby tour and then spending a few glorious, relaxing, carefree days with Tannie Willa and her family in Amanzimtoti. Now both the dudes have done their first - and all by themselves - flights.

Harlequins tour to Amanzimtoti 17 to 19 October 2025
Harlequins invited Master Liam to join them on their annual tour to Amanzimtoti again. As in 2024. Again for the U18 team. Check out those beautiful tour jerseys!
First game on Saturday 18 October was against the Toti U18's. Quins won 41 to 17.
Second game was against Hillcrest and another win for Quins - this time 57 to 15.
Now the boys can enjoy a well earned break. The team will head back to Pretoria on Sunday the 18th, while our dude will remain behind in 'Toti. He will be spending a week with Henk's sister, Willa to enjoy a much needed and hard earned break on the beach!
